What is the first thing? That first thing we know, is what? Actually this is a test.

  1. as a tiny dot of becoming person . . we know love . . . the love of connection to everything . . . and then we spend our lives unpacking its inside outside edges and pieces and quantifying labelling knowing unknowing being losing wishing dreaming and then becoming . . . once again, one with the stars and everything! steven

  7. I think the first thing we know is comfort. Otherwise we wouldn't freak out when we're expelled from the warmth and comfort of our mom's bellies. :)

  8. If we are very lucky, the first thing we perceive is love: when our mother holds us and looks deeply into our eyes and enfolds us into her arms, we are loved.
That is why we turn towards her (besides obvious rooting) and allow her to kiss our foreheads, smooth our hair or baldheads, and coo at us, and we react by becoming calm. It is the amazing act of maternal love.

Unfortunately, there are those who are born without this, and I believe that it affects them even after being in this world for a short time. Such a heartbreak.
